Joel Osteen’s book entitled, “Your Best Life Now”, is a best-seller.  But according to Horatius Bonar (and he got his Theology from the Bible) it is just not true (for Christians that is); because our best life still awaits us beyond the river in the great Celestial City!

Read today’s blog from “Of First Importance“.  (I have this daily blog on my side bar closer to the bottom, so don’t forget to check this out everyday.)

Discerning Pre-Step 3 of 6

WHO’S THE BOSS?!?

3. SUBMIT TO HIM! (James 4:7; Psalm 143:8-10)

If we are not submitting… then why would we expect…?

To Submit, or Not to Submit?!?

Don’t Obey Commands!

Obey the Commander! – (Exodus 20:1-3)

God says, “Give Me your answer, before I give you the question!”

Submission to our Lord is a must for knowing what the Lord wants us to do!

Psalm 37:5 – “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act.”

(Psalm 37:27-31; 25:1, 12-15; 143:1-14).

Discerning Pre-Step 2 of 6

WHAT ARE WE DOING (NOW)?

2. SERVE HIM! (Romans 12:11)

Not only should we be seeking God in order to delight ourselves in Him (Psalm 37:4), but we should also be doing what we know God has called us to do now (Psalm 37:3).

Satan’s Goal: Distraction!

Be faithful now, where you are at!

Keeping the Chief Thing, Main

I Corinthians 7:17-24, 26-32a, 35

– Put all of your heart and soul into that which God has given for you to be and do now, trusting HIM to guide, provide, and bless you in His timing, His way, for your best and His glory (I Peter 4:10-11)!

Discerning Pre-Step 1 of 6

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

1. SEEK HIM! (Psalm 27:8; 105:4)

This is God’s will for you now: Seeking to know and love Christ Jesus as the only Savior and Lord is the supreme purpose for your existence on this earth.

This is not a one time event.  This is a lifestyle.

Y.B.H.?!? — Yeah, but how?!?

By regularly:

1. Reading and listening to, memorizing and meditating on His Word (Psalm 1).

AND

2. Praying without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17).

Seeking the Spirit

To separate the Spirit of God from the Word of God is foolish.

Christian meditation is not emptying our minds so that the Spirit of God can speak into us what His Will is.  True, Biblical meditation is filling our minds with the Scriptures so that the Spirit will speak to us.  Being radically dependent upon the Holy Spirit is being radically Biblical, and vise versa.

I interrupt the series on discerning the Lord’s Will to bring you this special report.  It isn’t breaking news, nor is it really news; for it would have to be “new” for it to be news.  No, this is as old as Christianity.  The question, “What about those who never hear the Gospel?” is old and difficult for many to answer.  It is a favorite question among skeptics and liberals (and some seekers).  And the answer I’m about to give comes to you in 4 parts (2 Theological/Biblical and 2 Practical Applications/Examples): (more…)
