Happy New Year!!!

In order to move forward this year (Philippians 3:12-14), we must cast out all immobilizing, faith-diminishing anxiety, fear, and doubt.  Remember this…

All obedience-paralyzing, sin-producing fear is really a fear that God isn’t who He says He is and won’t do what He has promised to do.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

There are so many wonderful things to focus on about Christmas; almost too many.  Therefore each Christmas I like to focus on one theme, one thought, one magnificent truth for which I delight in and praise God for.

Out of all of the things which Christmas tells us, this year my focus is on what we read that the angel Gabriel tells Mary in Luke 1:37 – “‘For nothing will be impossible with God.’”

Now if this message was taken out of its Scriptural context, it would still be amazing and worth reveling in, but when we keep it in its Christmas context… I just want to break out in singing with the angels.

The meaning in context here is that God could and would, by His Almighty Power and Wisdom, make Mary, a virgin, pregnant.  But the wonders do not stop there, for it is not just the supernatural conception and birth that we celebrate, but it is also the supernatural incarnation of God!  (For more on this, check out Desiring God’s recent blog series).

The Deity puts on flesh, being conceived supernaturally (and holily), being born of a virgin.   The Eternal Word becomes flesh and dwells among His temporal people.  The Infinite Creator is veiled in the flesh of a finite baby.  The All-Powerful King becomes a helpless infant.  The Independent Sustainer of all things comes to us as a most dependent child.  The Transcendent One draws near to be Emmanuel in the arms of a young Jewess.  This surely takes the All-Possible God!

So this Christmas, I’ve chosen to focus on the reality that Christmas tells me that nothing is impossible with God, as seen so astonishingly in the supernatural conception, birth, and incarnation of His Son!  Hallelujah!!!

What will you focus on this Christmas?

This is a link to a post I made on St. Louis FamilyCamp’s website.

Santa Claus VS. Christmas

Santa Claus VS. Christmas

οργη (orge) = wrath

John 3:36 — “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever do not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

The word, “wrath”, is not all that big of a deal, but when it is followed by “of God”, it is worthy of utmost attention and fear.

The wrath of God is (whether we ever recognize it or not) the scariest thing in all creation.  But what is it?

God’s wrath is His intense and just hatred and anger toward all sin, which is demonstrated finally and fully in Hell (Everlasting Punishment/Troment).

God’s wrath is a Real and Serious, Purposeful and Deliberate, Controlled and Conscious, and very Personal response to all sin, due to His being Gloriously and Beautifully Worthy, Infinitely Holy, and Perfectly Just.

It is a terrifyingly sobering thought that the wrath of God is currently on all those who do not believe in Jesus Christ as the only Savior, King, and God.  And on the appointed Day all of that wrath which they are storing up for themselves will be poured out on them by the Judge of all the earth (Rom. 2:5)!

Please make sure that you flee to God, by faith in Jesus, lest His wrath remain on you!

Last night at my church I was saddened by how little the kids in my church knew about the Christmas story.  After awhile of trying to get them to tell me the story I then asked them,

“What if the amount and the quality of your Christmas presents depended on how well you knew the Christmas story?”

They didn’t think that would be very fair.  But in all reality what you get out of Christmas does largely depend on what you know about Christmas.  If you think Christmas is mostly about getting and giving and loving with family and friends, then that is just about all you can get out of Christmas.

But if you focus on, think deeply about, rejoice in, and worship Jesus Christ the only Supreme Lord and Sovereign Savior for His immaculate, Supernatural conception and His humble and God-glorifying birth, that both veiled and displayed the miraculous and merciful incarnation of the only Eternal, Omnipotent, and Omnipresent Creator-God over all,… well, then you will truly get exceedingly, abundantly more than you could ever ask or imagine.  For you will receive the everlasting benefits and blessings of the Good News for Great Joy!

So, remember, our highest satisfaction and greatest reward this Christmas (as at every Christmas, and for everyday) depends on our knowledge of and focusing on the truly rich meaning of the beautiful Christmas story as given to us in the Holy Scriptures of God.

Glory to God in the highest, and

Peace to men on earth with whom He is pleased.
